The link between illegal Israeli settlements and child detention

[29 February 2024] - Evidence collected over a 12 year period identifies a direct link between illegal Israeli settlements and the detention of Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank. The link is both geographical and logistical and results in a spiral of injustice including: torture and ill-treatment; denial of basic legal rights in a military detention system; and unlawful transfer out of occupied territory. In response to what amounts to a state sponsored war crime, the West has imposed sanctions on a handful of inconsequential settlers.

Detention Update

[31 January 2024] - In late January, the Israel Prison Service (IPS) released detention data for the final quarter of 2023. As at the end of December 2023, the IPS data indicates there were 8,308 Palestinian men, women and children being held as "security prisoners" - an increase of 72 percent compared to the end of September.

The unlawful transfer of Ukrainian and Palestinian children

[12 December 2023] - Children are being unlawfully transferred from both occupied Ukraine and the occupied West Bank. In the case of Ukrainian children, arrest warrants were issued by the International Criminal Court within 12 months of the alleged offence.

Torture, ill-treatment and transfer (2013-2023)

[29 November 2023] - This report reviews 1,100 testimonies from children detained by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank between 2013-2023. The evidence establishes widespread and systematic torture and/or ill treatment of children and their mass unlawful transfer out of occupied territory.

No rules, no order

[18 October 2023] – It has been observed that for 75 years Palestinians and Israelis have been caught up in a fatal embrace of violence and injustice replaying over and over in a bitter loop. It is in just such situations that the "rules based order" is supposed to apply, without fear or favour.
