US policy shift undermines Israel's legal rationale for military courts in the West Bank

[22 November 2019] – The recent statement by the US Secretary of State that “the establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not per se inconsistent with international law” by implication rejects the application of Geneva IV. Israel relies on this Convention as the legal basis for prosecution Palestinians in military courts.
