Child detention raised in Dutch Parliament

[February 2014] - On 12 February, the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Dutch Parliament held a wide ranging debate on relations with Israel and Palestine. During the debate the issue of the treatment of Palestinian children held in Israeli military detention was raised.

Israeli group challenges lack of accountability

[February 2014] - On 16 February, the Public Committee against Torture in Israel (PCATI) issued a statement highlighting the failure by the relevant authorities to investigate credible allegations of torture allegedly committed during interrogations conducted by the Israeli Security Agency (ISA).

OECD complaint lodged against G4S in Denmark

[January 2014] - On 6 December 2013, a member of the Danish Parliament submitted a complaint against the multi-national security company G4S under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (Guidelines). The complaint against the UK/Danish security company arises out of its business activities in Israel and Palestine.

UK lawyers' report - 18 months on

[December 2013] - On 26 June 2012, a delegation of UK lawyers published the report - Children in Military Custody. The Foreign Office funded report reviewed how children are treated in Israel's military court system taking into account both the legal framework and practice.

UN makes recommendations on child detainees

[November 2013] - On 1 November the UN Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) adopted a Report following their review of Israel's submission under the UPR human rights mechanism. According to the UN, the UPR is a unique process which involves a review of the human rights records of all UN Member States.
