[1 June 2015] – Israeli Military Order 1754 comes into effect today in the West Bank. The order incorporates the general part of the Israeli civilian Penal Law into Israel military law. It includes definitions of parties to an offence such as accomplices as well as adopting general principles such as: the best interpretation for the defendant; and a burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Although this order is unlikely to have a significant impact in practice it does provide confirmation regarding certain definitions and principles where before there was ambiguity.
